John’s back, and finally available worldwide, after his “Race around the World” segment for the ABC nearly 6 years ago. Yes, Music Jamboree is on DVD.

This is quite a good viewing with various insites into the music industry, even if nearly 80% is Aussie Alternative, which few of us yanks might be familiar with. It’s rather evident he is a mere shit-stirrer with a loud mouth, and well, a bit of a foppish attitude, which can only be to his benefit in these repressed countries. ๐Ÿ˜‰

(Hmmm, do I really want to listen to the ”(Not The) Sunscreen Song” again? YES!)

I’ve been horribly busy with various things as of recently, and have not updated my diary in quite a spell. None the less, I’ve actually had a bit of time to play today, as well as learn.

I’m growing to love SDL, it’s nearly entirely trivial to port things written for it, and it is amazingly fast, not to mention spiffy! If that wasn’t enough, Sam even ported Maelstrom to it, made his own OSX port.

Sadly, this was not to be released…

My mind is a bit fried from a bit of CP-1600 decompilation in my mind, everythings just fiddly nibbles and bits at the moment. I’m quite impressed with how simple Joe’s work was to port, really, given the oddities of this system. That SDL has managed to stay as stable as it is has really won me over.

Maybe I’ll play some prototyped games for a bit this evening to relax. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was playing with libaa, and managed to toy with a few hooks, then found that Apple already did the same, as did someone else, only a bit less advanced than my little toy, and neither used libaa. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What was the project? Playing a movie in pure 7 bit ASCII! It’s running in a GLTerm (Don’t even think of trying this with Terminal.App!)

Downsized ‘Computer Boy’. 222×65 character resolution. 16 colors! Oh, the beauty. ๐Ÿ˜‰
